Re: Hurricane Earl
well they said Fran was supposedly "just going to graze the coastline" and we in Raleigh were without power for 2 weeks because the damn eye went right over us! So I don't hold much stock in stupid weathermen when it comes to hurricanes!

Re: Hurricane Earl
Eh. We have gone 2 weeks with out power because of icestorms, tornados, etc. I think this will be just about like any other storm I'm used to I guess being in tornado alley kinda prepares you better.
Some people freak out around here about the "storms" we have. Seriously...I haven't seen one storm that compares to any of the storms we have in AR. Pansey's.
We will see! Hopefully they close base down that would be good!

Re: Hurricane Earl
they are evacuating certain parts of outer banks we still have a hurricane watch/warning here
Re: Hurricane Earl
The islands are getting evacuated...but I think that should be mandatory anyway It is the island that is only accessible by ferry that is getting evacuated. They said if you live there long term and have a house that you are allowed to stay...its visitors they are evacuating. ?

Re: Hurricane Earl
Ya, only the visitors. However, even as a resident, my ass would be off there yesterday. It's only like 2 feet above sea level...and like a block wide.
Re: Hurricane Earl
Exactly. I was thinking...your STUPID if you just stay there...even if they say it isn't going to be bad I'd rather be safe than sorry!
But then again thats what happened during Katrina...they didn't leave they just stayed and got blown away! (Yes traffic was backed up but if they had left when warned they would have been far enough away to not get sucked into the sea!)

It's a 4 right now. It looks like they adjusted the path slightly for more inland.
