Mother Freakin' Fleas!!!!!!!!

OMG..... Okay so keep in mind that I have NEVER and I repeat NEVER had a flea problem with any of my pets.....

Couple of months ago I take Esther to the vet because she is itching... (she is on frontline) so I never suspect it's fleas... turns out there were fleas so gave her a capstar, she is allergic to fleas and broke out in hives, so also gave her a cortison shot.

Fast forward two months. Same issue with Esther.... fleas again. Repeat process and drop another $200. Purchase capstar for Lucy (cat)... she hasn't been itching at all, but just trying to prevent something.... last night Lucy starts freaking out!!! She is running upstairs, downstairs, this room, that room, meowing like crazy..... I start freaking out calling the emergency vet..... finally corner Lucy and see that she looks like an effing dalmation!!! there are hundreds of fleas!!!! they are dying and falling off of her!

So now I have the exterminator coming tomorrow.... I have to pick everything off the floor, put the animals in the basement and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.....

Ugh such a disaster.... Jeannette, I know you've been through this but it SUCKS I feel like I have the creepy crawlies all over me!

Ewww. Fleas. I HATE fleas.

I clean EVERYTHING. I bomb the house, I clean their bedding, I wash EVERYTHING.

You need to do your yard as well. They sell stuff at Lowes, and other places for the yard.

Hopefully you'll be able to get them under control. Stupid fleas!

Second FRICKEN TIME.

$250 for EACH dog. They originally thought Gunny had Mange, so we got the meds for that (plus his vaccine boosters, etc). When I took Lady in, she definitely had fleas. Gunny is highly allergic so that's why his ears are blood shot red and bald.

We put Hartz on, it didn't work, we're using Frontline 2 weeks later, I'm bombing the house this weekend. It's been about 3 weeks on meds, I have had enough. I can't tell if they're dieing when they're on the dogs but I can't take anymore/

I won't even sit on the couch. I have been vacuuming EVERY DAY. Everytime the dogs scratch I order them OUT OF MY ROOM!!!

Hartz is no good Jeannette (Its actually made our dogs throw up and get really sick...something about the ingredients in it...the vets have warned me that pets have even been killed by using Hartz!). You have to use the good stuff! You can also bath them daily for a while to make sure they are dieing off. I'm sure if your still having them its probably a issue with outside. Maybe ask them if they could treat the yard for fleas.

I am so freakin' upset about this..... I HATE fleas!!!!! I'm switching Esther from Frontline to Comfortis.... someone told me that animals are getting immune to Frontline because so many vets are using it now.... so they said that making a switch works SOOOO much better.

sounds like you need to switch too Jeannette.... your dogs are probably immune also!!!!

Comfortis worked for us last time!!!

The vet doesn't want to do it yet because they've had Hartz and are now on Frontline...

Tate, they "supposedly" do. I call bullshit because there's always landscapers dropping new sod or pine needles for landscape work.

Do ya'll have a lot of squirrels as well? They carry fleas too!

YES squirrels and I have a shit load of deer in my yard..... too much nature!

We don't have anything except for neighbor dogs that probably don't treat THEIR dogs so the whole grassy area gets flea-infested/ (shutters)

Kenny just found a dead squirrel in the attic with an infestation of flies.... maybe this is where the fleas originated?!?!?!

They did need a new host...

Might be LaDonna...I would have them exterminate the attic too! Make sure all entrances are blocked off so no more fleas can get in the attic!

This is such a NIGHTMARE!!!

It is!!! Deer are bad about bringing in not only fleas but ticks too!

Well he can't exterminate on wood floors...... so he can't spray the attic.... but kenny laid down carpet scraps up there.... I am going to make him pull that and throw it away, that way they have no where to hide.....

The exterminator said that the formula works on carpet for a few weeks.... so if those sneaky little buttholes try to come in the house again.... they will die!!!!!

I heard you can use something like (spelling it way wrong) dimatacious earth?

Yuck. Again, why I don't have dogs. I couldn't handle that!

It's too cold for that. In our years of owning like 8 dogs growing up, we never had fleas, ticks, mange, worms...nor did we bother with preventative treatment for them either. Just wasn't worth it unless you live in bumfuckegypt...then you may get ticks in the summer.

Still...yuck.

I know what you mean. To me, fleas are like lice. And I don't like lice!!!

We got fleas once when my aunt brought her dog to the house and gave them to our cat. It was HORRIBLE trying to get rid of those things! Good luck!

sooooooo far so good!!!! no fleas..... next item on the agenda..... I have to return the frontline and replace it with something new.
