Wow FYI..... if you have hit the terrible two's.....

Post by LaDonna on Wed Dec 15, 2010 10:02 am

It has NOTHING on the three's.... gee whiz..... the three's are crazy.

We had meltdowns this morning because Mackenzie didn't want to wear the shoes we picked out. When I say meltdown, I mean screaming at the top of her lungs, kicking, screaming, real tears streaming down her face.... and it lasted for like 10 minutes. I was soooooo late for work this morning.

tired

We've been dealing with tantrums like that lately. I've been fighting my fuse. The other day I flipped out and pinned him down, stuck his shoes on and went, "We have to go NOW. There! Done! Let's go now!"

Agh.

It's real hard not to lose it..... it's like you can picture the fuse being lit and the time running out as the fuse gets closer and closer to exploding! hahaha

Oh I've been there.... I feel terrible when Mackenzie cries.... but sometimes you just can't take much more of it. I just make sure that we talk through it after the wave has passed.... but good God almighty..... it's real difficult some mornings! tired

There was only ONCE Reese acted out and he didn't want to get in his car seat I had to FORCE his strong little arms in the little belts. He was crying and bowing his back...so I pulled the car over and spanked his butt then proceeded to tell him that now he has a REAL reason to cry. After that we never had any problems...but I KNOW we will pay for it when he is a teenager LMAO

I personally think tantrums are a way for kids to see how far they can push mom/dad's buttons!

Oh I agree totally..... which is why I try to never give in.... I try to always speak calmly and explain why she is going to do what I tell her to do.... normally that works.... but if it doesn't then I just walk into the other room and sit down until she is finished! hahaha LMAO

That is what we do with Brayden . . .
I tell him if he is going to cry, then shut his door.
Usually calms him down after a minute or two of crying in his room.

Wesson just nodded and told me he wanted to sit in time out. He sat against the wall for 5 minutes and stared at me... on his own free will.

Mackenzie's biggest thing is that if she doesn't want to do something she'll will voluntarily put herself in time-out BUT she thinks by doing so she doesn't have to do what I was trying to get her to do in the first place.....

i.e. Mackenzie clean your room, no mommy I go to time-out then YOU clean my room. LMAO

Yeah it's hard not to laugh at that, but she still has to clean her room.... but you can't blame a girl for trying.
