Give her some Sudafed or Tylenol Cold. It will probably say ages 4 but just cut it in half. The reason they stopped giving kids medicine at such a young age is because parents were OD'ing them. Especially with Benadryl to make them go to sleep. I was instructed by a doctor to do this...but not on record lol

Also you can rotate between Tylenol and Motrin. Sometimes I think Motrin works better other times I think Tylenol works better. Give the dosage for Tylenol then wait 4 hours and do Motrin then wait four hours and do Tylenol etc. etc.

Poor baby! I agree with the Motrin/ Tylenol rotation. If you don't have a humidifier You can boil a pot of water on the stove, and just keep boiling it all day. Make sure you watch the water level though! There is some homeopathic cough medicines at Walmart, they have worked for Rosemary in the past. I always give Rosemary some vitamin gummies when she is sick too. And freezy-pops.

I hope she feels better soon. I know it's so heartbreaking when your little one is sick.

I agree. It is the worst when your kiddos are sick. I am cranky when Rosemary is.

Ditto on the cranky part. I was ready to kill myself this week from the lack of sleep with Wesson and his strep/ear infection.

-----

You can do OTC stuff, just make sure it's not a "D" (Claritin-D, Robitussin-D). I was told to stay away from those when they're that young. We've done the kids Mucinex and that helped a little.

It's definitely going around. Try the humidifier...it's a godsend at nighttime!

Flu is going around like crazy. They had 5 confirmed cases at daycare and made a note to tell people to keep their sick kids at home if they get it.

Wesson tested negative but he ended up with an ear infection and strep last week. sadeyes

And now I'M sick this week. It's going around.

The breathing treatments will help break up the mucus and so will a humidifer at nighttime. Did they give her any oral antibiotics?

they didnt give her anything, just what they did at the er. they just told us to follow up with her pcm in 2 days. they never told us to use the humidifier but they told us to run the hot water in the bathroom and keep the doors closed with her in it and that should help...well it does but only temporarily. and i was reading up on croup and it says that it gets worse at night, but she seems to be better at night..i dunno what to think. i hope her chest xray was okay bc we havent heard anything about that either

Definitely run a humidifer to keep her throat moist. It'll help with the coughing too. The shower works but how long can you sit in a shower, ya know! lol

If she has any problems breathing, take her in because it just gets worse with the heavy coughing.

If anything, they'd put her on Prednisone (anti-inflammatory) to help her breathe better.

Poor baby!

How are YOU doing? You need to take care of yourself too. Take a few minutes of Momma time.

Poor girl!

And poor mom! Does she take her meds easily? I have to hog-tie and forcefeed applesauce with antibiotics in it to get Wesson to take his. lol
