Holy expensive phone call!

K just transferred bases this past week. He's stationed on an American base, but works on a British base. Well 1 o'clock this morning, I get a phone call. He mentions that he bought a phone card to use on the British phone system.

That should have been my first sign. Last time I was in England, my "500 minute" phone card lasted maybe 10.

Sure enough, we're nearing the 30-minute cut-off, and he says "That's weird. My phone card just told me I am nearing the end of my minutes." Less than a minute later, it happened again, and then hung up on us!

$33 for a 30 minute phone call. And half of it was irritable. So much for phone calls now.

Gah. Phone cards are a pain!

I hate phone cards. Especially on ship. I have NO idea what the rate is...I just put a random $50 on it once in a great while.

We went from paying 2 - 2.5 cents/min on his last phone card to apparently over a dollar.

We average like 40/50 cents a minute.

IT. SUCKS.

That is nuts. DH bought one that had like 4000 minutes for $100 when they first got there.
