Overtime...
I think guys in the military should get overtime sometimes....John wakes up at 4:30 and is out the door at 4:40 he still isn't home and its 6:33. 14 hours!?
Tuesday's and Thursdays they don't have to be at work until 7:30...but still they get home at 6 or later. I can see why he doesn't want to reenlist!

I think they should too, or get paid more in general.

Oh yes I absolutely agree! When Ben was on 12 hour shifts, he would always always work at least 14 hours.

Re: Overtime...
i agree, and i also dont think duty should be a 24 hr thing either...when in fact its more than 24 hrs bc most of the time they have to stay until 12 the next day. How can they expect someone to stay up for that long then go to work for 4 or 5 hours then get in their car and drive home. to me thats putting their lives and others on the road at risk

Agreed.
Jon got up at 3:30 for work and won't be off until 6.
It's killer on Fridays, he's got a 2 hour drive home.
He's so right about one thing though...
The Marine Corps survives off dip and Monsters.

Yeah I hate the duty thing. The guys LIVING in the barracks should be doing duty. But whatever...
Johns higher ups really don't care about them being there after being on duty for 24 hours. He had a project that the guy wanted him to finish and John was like well I have someone that is going to take over for me since I've been up for 24 hours and the guy got all huffy puffy like he had just given him a wedgie or something and told him he didn't care how long he had been up yada yada.

yea well get this, my husband is a cook, there for he was in the chow hall, then when we found out i was preggers, his gunny switched him to the office so it wouldnt be a problem when i had doctors appts, then his gunny suggested he become the barracks manager after we found out we were having twins since the hours wouldnt be long and its basically a cake job, well what she and my DH didnt know was that, when your a barracks manager you get the pleasure of having duty every 9 days...yup thats right every 9 days, WTF SERIOUSLY?

Re: Overtime...
they basically have to watch the barracks and make sure the guys arent doing anything they arent supposed to. kinda like a babysitter for marines that live in the barracks

Re: Overtime...
What?? Thats crazy! The AF dorms (like the barracks) need to be babysat but I'm glad Ben doesn't have to do it.
They call the dorms on Croughton, the ghetto. There always fights, broken glass, girls that look like hookers, loud music, drunks...

That's every barracks in the Marine Corps.
Hookers - Barracks rats.
And I didn't know a single room that wasn't filled with beer.
Re: Overtime...
I remember when Ben and I first started dating he lived in the dorms. I would spend the night occasionally and I always felt so ashamed the next day when I left his room...
At least I ended up marrying him...
