i dont think im a morning person anymore
pissed yet again this morning. So DH had duty yesterday, and its my understanding that its 24 hrs...so if he started at 7:15 yesterday, he'd be done today at 7:15 correct? well apparently not i text him and asked him to get mcdonalds breakfast on his way home. got no answer from him so i decided to check our account and $7 something was just withdrawn, i know this becuase i checked it this morning to make sure he didnt buy anything yesterday. so i thought okay he went and just didnt text me. Well, no, he finally text me back an hour after i texted him and he says "hey im not getting done yet i have to go into work" so i asked him why and what did he buy....no answer

There is no rule that it is "24 hours" we had this issue not to long ago with DH.
He went in at 7 a.m. and wasn't allowed to leave until after 12 p.m.
It is the higher ups choice when they are allowed to leave. They don't have to let them go home...usually they do because they are being nice.
I was pissed as well. Plus I mean come on how helpful is someone thats been up for 24 hours!

It's bullshit. Some of the higher ups need to get punched in the face...

Yeah really. I mean...I wouldn't want some guy sticking around after he has been up for 24 hours or more...so stupid.
I also think that just guys living in the BARRACKS should have duty but thats another argument altogether

completely agree 100%
its not like he does anything important either. he sits in an office and does paper work...there are like 3 other ppl in the office why would they need him to stay and work. it doesnt make any sense and on top of that he has to drive home, thats like an accident waiting to happen. i dont think they will learn until someone gets killed because of this. and even then they prolly wont learn.
oh and i still havent gotten an answer back from him

Remember when I used to have to stand 24 hour duty every 10 days? It was BS. Then have to work until lunch. It was awful when DH was deployed. I was so tired, then would have to pick up Rosemary from Holly Ridge (my friend who would watch her lived out there), then drive home to Hubert. It would be like 1400 by the time I got home. I was to tired to do anything at home. Ugh. Duty is stupid, but it does serve a purpose, no matter how stupid it is.
