Floorcloth
I hate our kitchen floors, but a rug gets so nasty in the kitchen. So a floorcloth was my best option. Here is what I made yesterday.
So basically what you do is take heavy canvas, paint what you want on it, seal it, and voila! Floorcloth! They are super easy to keep clean, you can just sweep them and if they get dirty you just clean them with a little water.

Re: Floorcloth
...why not just get a rug and put it in the washing machine
Doesn't it just slide around on the floor?

Re: Floorcloth
There is rug stick on the back, so no.
I tried a rug, but I had to wash it all the time, and then the rug looked like crap. Then I would have to buy a new one. My husband threw the last one out because he hated looking at it. This was kind of a compromise. The floor is so cold right there, but he wouldn't let me put a new rug down, so this was my solution.

Well, I am a messy cook. But I cook a lot. I have been trying to make our own bread, so the flour gets all over the place. And Rosemary HAS to help, so that is a mess all of it's own. Plus when we come in the house the first place everybody goes is in the kitchen, and then you get winter sludge and salt on all over the place.
