Curtains

Has anyone made their own curtains before???? I really want to try to do this.... but I'm not sure how to do it?

I know someone who used the iron on seams and made some curtains and they were pretty cute!

Yeah you can get this stuff that you just iron together instead of actually sewing together. The only thing is that the seam is stiffer so you won't get that more natural feeling to the curtain...BUT it looks good on valences or a curtain that is more contemporary.

When we get our house in a few months this might be a good project for us too.

I want to learn to make these in the worst way possible... I NEED curtains for my living room. I'm so fucking tired of going through every blind and adjusting them because my numbnuts dog ran through them. Curtains should deter him from doing that... I've got a great fabric store around the corner from work.... I'm going on my lunch break!

Jeannette you should be able with this type of thing to seam them together in 4 foot sheets. (I think thats a standard width of fabric isn't it?)...

Then you can make it as wide as you need it.

I would really like to do the grommet ones.... but I think that might be pushing it for my first time!

They aren't that hard though LaDonna...just get instructions off the interwebz and it should pretty simple.

My mom is the curtain queen! She's made all of our curtains back home. I can't tell you how she's done them though.

Okay the first one is slightly uneven but not too terrible.....the other one went much much smoother!
