What's a good for fading scars? Empty What's a good for fading scars?

Post by Jeannette Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:28 am

Because of my skin issues, I have ALOT of small dark purplish scars that haven't really faded on their own over the years... What's a good product to speed up the process?

I thought about Mederma but I have alot...I need more of a lotion to slather... Any ideas?

I was going to say Mederma...I've been using it on what John calls my "non-existent stretch marks" lol he may not see them but I do! I don't think it works all that well...I have no idea what else to use...I've heard of using a vitamin oil before..but can't remember which vitamin it was..

Vitamin E!

Also, it's pricy...but it works (for stretchmarks)...

...Nivea has something called "Goodbye Cellulite". They're these patches (about 4x6?) that you cover the area with. Either overnight or during the day. They work AWESOME on stretchmarks. You can also use them anywhere else...butt, thighs...etc.

Oh nifty. I'll have to check that out. When I loose weight the stretch marks go away...the fatter I am the worse the stretch marks Sad

The fatter I am, the better they look because my skin is stretched tight. I have a wrinkled belly. LMAO

Mine turned iridescent over time...but I have some that you can actually feel. lol

Yeah I managed to get really lucky on the stretch marks. I didn't have any until my belly went back to normal size. But they are barely noticeable.

Ya...I have them below the belly button and as wide as my hips... It wouldn't be so bad if I was in better shape...there's so much extra skin which makes the stretchmarks appear wrinkly. But I refuse a tummy tuck. lol God didn't make me that way. LMAO

LMAO I would get a tummy tuck in a heart beat if we had the money for it. But...mine aren't that bad so I know John would never go for that. I just need a treadmill to get my butt back in shape!

I know it sounds weird, but applying lotion and taping it over with the white wound tape (those in the blue dispenser, I'm not even sure what they're called) helps scars fade. It worked for me after my stitches on my knee.

John always tells me "its a waste of money to get a treadmill when you can just walk outside"

I always say "yeah but I can't walk in the rain...I won't walk in the cold...If I get a treadmill I have no excuses!"

What kinda lotion?

I haven't seen any in a blue dispenser...I just know of the white rolls...the white surgical tape...

Hmm..you should get some of that sticky wrap stuff...the kind that sticks to itself. I've never had good luck with tape.

The only stuff I know that does that is for umm...electrical stuff. The white tape...stretchy... Not black electrical tape...but something else.

I used vitamin e capsules on my thyroid scar and you can't even barely see it anymore. I just broke them open and put the goo on my scar.

Hmm... all I remember about the lotion I used was that it was white... that doesn't help What's a good for fading scars? 94699 I don't think the lotion type matters, but the white surgical tape matters. I tried it with regular tape once and it was too uncomfortable and didn't work.

Did you cover it with a bandaid or did it absorb into the skin relatively quick?

It just absorbed. It's kind gross but seriously worked so good. Betcha never even noticed the ginormous scar on my neck. I ususally did it after I got out of the shower so the pores are more open and it absorbs better.
