Heard This. Empty Heard This.

Post by Kala Sun Oct 03, 2010 2:46 pm

I heard this a few weeks ago at small group.

"You're either going through a crisis or getting ready to go through one" . .

In this day and age I couldn't agree more with this. People are getting laid off, jobs are few and far between, losing their houses to foreclosure therefore going homeless, food banks running out of food because of the demand is growing rapidly, and more and more people battling illnesses. Such a hard time we are facing.

We are very lucky here. We have changed how we do some things, but have it much better than some people.

I wish that Wes would have stayed in. We had health care, rent was always paid on time, groceries were always in the cabinet, etc. It's really scary.

I honestly have thought about it over and over. I really don't think I could make it through bootcamp.

You totally could. And Air Force? Their bootcamp isn't bad. Plus great duty stations! If I made it through, you could!

In all seriousness, it is the best thing I ever did for myself. I learned so much, get my GI Bill, and met great people (husband included lol). I would never change that I did it.

I wanted to join forever. My dad was in the Army. However, he'd disown me. He has such beef with Uncle Sam and the VA system... For me, an asthmatic that's always broken, it's just not going to happen. sigh

It is true about the economy though. We're coupon clippers, I never buy more than what's on the list, and I just stopped spending. I don't buy anything for the house, like decorations... Just living tight and putting away EVERYTHING.

I have been working on this. I went out yesterday and bought a dry erase board. Now I have the entire week of dinners planned out and all the grocery shopping done for food.

I have a feeling this is going to save a TON!

Yay!!! Someone is going to use my white board idea! It saves so much time. You can more easily plan for leftovers, how to shop. I would be lost, just lost without it! They make little paper pads at Michaels usually in the dollar stuff too that is a menu for the week and a shopping list on the other side.

I can't plan meals ahead because...by the time I get to that day that isn't what I want to eat.

Sometimes I can stick to the meal plan, but sometimes it just doesn't sound good.

okay seriously..... me in boot camp is probably the most hilarious thing I've ever thought of..... I'm such a girl. Not saying you guys aren't girls..... just that I'm the pink wearing, paint my nails kind of, don't like to get dirty type girl...... I mean I am a GIRL. I would totally choke! ROFL and then demand a massage after the work out! LMAO

Eh, it's not that bad. I am a total girl too. It's just a few weeks you have to live without that stuff. You get used to it. I think I had more time to do that stuff in boot camp and during school than I do now lol

It's not bad. You wake up (for us it was usually 0500-0600), hygeine, eat chow, go to some classes, lunch, go to some more classes, PT, eat dinner, then do stuff in the "ships" like gear inspections or learning how to fold undies. lol Then go to bed.

Classes weren't bad. Every branch is different. We learned Naval history, different kinds of ships and aircraft, basic first aid, firefighting...stuff like that. We did hands on ship stuff (whole lot of good that ever did me lol)
