I made it!
OMG, I am freaking out right now, I just got an email from the head of the recruiting office that I have been invited to interview in DC for the nuclear position.
I'm excited and scared and they are crazy, they sent me the email tonight that I have been invited to the Dec 10th interview. Umm, guys, that's 3 days away, I can't do that! But, they said it was no big deal to push it back a month, so that's what I'll do, go to the Jan interview.
But OMG, I've basically been accepted into the Navy as an officer, they have approved my package, now it's in what capacity. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Re: I made it!
So now that I have more time...what happens now?
You have the interview...what do you all have to do? Is it a government position or an actual "In the Navy" position? Do you still have to do boot camp and stuff?
Fill me in!

I will be in the Navy, a commissioned officer in the Navy. I'll go through OCS, since I'll be an O, not boot camp, but it's basically the same hell.
The way it works is I'll go to the interview, I sit down with 2 or 3 engineers at Nuclear Reactors in DC and work through problems with them, a technical interview. Then I meet with Adm. Donald and he does a super quick interview, less than 5 minutes from what I understand and then I leave his office and he decides my fate. Once he decides, an aide will come out and tell me and if I make it, I go down and swear in then. I will officially be a Navy reservist with a rank of E6 until I go to OCS, well in OCS, I'll still get paid at E6 until I get commissioned.
I'll go to OCS sometime in February most likely.

You should all write me in OCS, that would be awesome!! Of course once I am back in the real world, I'll be able to pop in like usual.
I just talked to the LT again and she said it was Ok'd for me to go in January instead. Whew, that's a load off. Now I need to talk to my boss, which I should do soon, like today, like now. I think I will see if they will let my "last day" be the 19th, but still let me take my scheduled (paid) vacation from the 20th-26th.
Then no more work after that and I only have 6 more days in that time because I am going to FL for a trip for the Navy. Yee-haw!

Where does that put you for going through OCS? Will you be able to go to your husband's homecoming?

So......What are you going to do with Sawyer? And Finn? It's Finn right?
I can't believe you're going to leave for the Navy! Like...IN A MONTH!

I will likely go in with a February class, the recruiter thought there was one about Feb 13. It will mean I miss homecoming most likely, by about a month.

My friend Megan and her hubby are actually going to move into the house and take care of the animals for us. They are going to be PCSing early summer anyway, so they will save on rent before they move and save us having to ship the animals off to our families. Works out for both of us and we're all close enough that we should be ok to live together for the times that we are here.
