Taxes...
So last year taxes were easy. 2 W-2's and that was about it.
This year after buying a house and renting it out....
2 W-2's
Home Buyer Credit Form
Mortgage Payments (1098 Form)
Real Estate Tax
Tax Record from 2009
Rental Property Income
and the list goes on and on!

I'm doing our taxes this year but next year I'm taking them in! We'll have 2 additional babies and a house!

Re: Taxes...
Yeah I've never done my taxes. We always get everything around and send them to my Mom's tax guy.
This year though we want the return ASAP so we have decided we are going to take them on base and get them done....I'm just getting anxious because its a lot of stuff to get gathered and I want to make sure I have it ALL in one trip so I don't have to go back and forth getting paper work!
Kala hopefully you don't have to pay in!

I know I saw that I was going to print Johns off so I can start getting everything around (we are doing ours on base too but I know it will take longer than 10 days for ours) and noticed that Marine W-2's aren't done until the 18th!

Re: Taxes...
I always worry that I'll have to pay...
Last year we had a nice return because the year prior, Jon was deployed.
It's odd for us. We file joint but he files in WI and I file in NC.

Re: Taxes...
I'm freaking out with taxes since it's the first year I'm trying to file myself.

Re: Taxes...
I will have 2 W-2's from 2 different states, so there is no way I could do them ourselves.

Re: Taxes...
Kala, if you use Turbotax or something, it asks you about other states. There's options on there!

when you do them through the military it takes 10 business days no matter what. just make sure you have both your and DH and sons ssn card, ids and a check for your bank account so they have the routing and account numbers so you can get it...if you dont have the account and routing then they cant do it. and make sure you go right when they open in the mornings...its not very crowded at all so you wont wait that long...one time i waited for 4 hours only to have them tell me that their systems went down

What Jeannette said. Although I always like to take my taxes to someone that knows what they are doing that way I always get the max amount possible!Kala wrote:I will have 2 W-2's from 2 different states, so there is no way I could do them ourselves.

Re: Taxes...
Tate - John would be AR too! He keeps his orginal state of residency throughout the service unless he chooses to change it. You guys should both be AR.
Mine changed to NC because of the income and residency.

well if you go in the morning it should be good, it seems that every tax season in the afternoons their system goes down from so much use
