Question for moms? Empty Question for moms?

Post by joeyswife3108 Sun Mar 28, 2010 1:46 pm

I am due around May 30th. My husband would like us to go to his
Sister's College graduation in May Its may 8th, and we would be going 6
hours away to Tn. Do you think I would be ok to go? Im going to ask my
Dr to, I am not High Risk or anything and we would be going for 2
nights. I have already checked and there is a Hospital near the hotel
we would be staying at just in case.

Thanks

i know that the naval hosp tells you that they would like for you not to travel during your last month, but i think they told me to carry my medical records with me just in case. i think you would be okay but deff get your doctors permission !

I personally wouldn't just because I went into labor 5 weeks early for no real reason. I agree with kaliesmama that I would get a copy of your records just in case. I would see what your doctor said. Sometimes the stress of traveling can put you into labor.

I wouldn't risk it. Travel over 2 hours is not reccommended after 28 weeks. That's cutting it pretty close.

I'm one of those rebellious hellraisers and...

I drove 4 hours at 36 weeks to see family for a weekend and made it alright. "IF" you go, take your records and make sure to stop frequently to get out and walk (sitting in the car will DEFINITELY make your feet swell). I reclined my seat back a little so that it wouldn't feel like the baby was up to my neck. I also wore slipon shoes so I could be barefoot in the car. lol

I hit 36 weeks the day my parents were driving to TN for the family reunion. When I asked my doctor if I could go, she said "Sure! But be prepared to have the baby in TN." Her hole view was you can do whatever you want, but know the risks. So yes you probably can. Your doctor may be different. My doctor was pretty damn awesome. I am really going to miss her when we move.

I would go unless you are feeling like you are about to give birth. I agree take medical records and a carseat just in case!!!!

Also think about if you would want to drive 6 hours with a newborn if you would happen to have it there. I had to drive from MN to NC when Rosemary was 10 days old. It was not fun. Not only for her, but I was still really sore too.

Just something else to think about. I am the old woman worry-wart of the group, obviously!
