Skin Care Empty Skin Care

Post by Kala Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:27 am

What skin care/acne treatments do you ladies use?? My skin has gone Freakout since I've been pregnant. I ordered Proactiv this morning and I can't wait to get it. I've used it before and it worked wonders on my face, so I hope it does this time!

I honestly don't do anything. I use my homemade soap, which is really gentle and doesn't have any chemicals. It is olive oil based, which is really good for moisturizing. If I need some extra scrubbing I use something that has apricot seeds or cinnamon.

I wish I was lucky enough to not have to do anything. If I don't wash my face every night and every morning it would be covered in pimples. GAH!

My skin is inevitable. No matter what, it's going to break out like mad around the time of the month. On the offdays, I'll have the occasional breakout. I've learned to deal...and not pick at my face. lol

I really try not to pick at my face. Since I've been pregnant though, my breakouts hurt. Just thinking about them makes my face hurt. Sad

hugs I'm sorry! I hope Proactive works for you! I've never used it so I can't tell you. I basically use whatever soap is around when I remember to wash my face.

Skin Care Empty Re: Skin Care

Post by oniyune Tue Aug 30, 2011 10:20 pm

I've have acne problems, particularly black heads and in certain areas on my face with more oil
i.e. hair line, nose, etc.

I've used proactiv before. (Actually I used A LOT of different skin products)
For me, it worked great at first, then my acne kersploded 10X worse for about 1 1/2 months after.
Basically it cleared out most acne bugs, save the strongest, which in turn multiplied and grew resistant to the formula.
Same basics as antibiotics really.
Not only that, but my skin became suuuper dry.
But that's just my experience. Hopefully, yours will turn out well.

Right now, I am controlling my acne by using mild face soap, then using deep cleaning pore masks once per week, and using makeup that does not clog my pores (I have mildly oily skin, and it's the main source of my acne).
The makeup base I am using is airbrush TEMPTU. Love that stuff, but it doesn't cover so much as other foundations do. But it's not so necessary for me to cover, because my acne is getting better and scars from previous acne are healing thanks to it.

I also use a facial oil blotting tissue once in the middle of the day every other day during work so that excess oil does not clog my pores.
If you wipe away oil too often, however, your body produces more than normal so you have to be careful.

Also, drinking plenty of water helps you to wash out impurities and toxins you consume.
That and good ol' veggies and fruits. Got to get in those antioxidant, right?

I have a lot of concern regarding my skin.. mostly about making it pale.

Sorry I just trolled.
Good luck to you.

I don't do anything. Heck I don't even wash it in the mornings I just usually rub my hands over my face in the shower and thats about it.

My step sister had really bad acne and she used all kinds of things even prescriptions but then she used proactive and it did wonders!

I use all Mary Kay..... I put about 8 different products on my face morning and night.... I am COMPLETELY OPPOSITE of Jeannette! LMAO

I use cleanser, toner, day solution, night solution, revitalizing eye cream, firming eye cream, moisturizer, vitamin c serum, and microdermabrasion and replenishing (but that is only once a week) Smile

I like Mary Kay products, I just can't afford to use it like that. lol I bought a mini compact and the 3 eye shadows, blush, and lip gloss to fill it and just about crapped my pants when my cousin gave me the total.
