Grocery Thoughts... Empty Grocery Thoughts...

Post by Jeannette Mon Mar 15, 2010 1:44 pm

Obviously everything is on a geographical and situational basis... but with rising food costs, and the urge to cut back on spending, I found some things interesting...

It is WAY cheaper by about a dollar to buy a pound of regular carrots and peel them yourself opposed to the peeled baby carrots.

It is also cheaper to buy a CAN of Dole or DelMonte fruit rather than the 4-pack fruit cups. Cheaper buy over a dollar.

It's cheaper to buy a box of Jello than Jello Cups.

What shortcuts do you find more cost-effective in your own grocery shopping?

Only buy meat when it's on sale, then stock up the freezer.

Big tubs of yogurt are way cheaper than the individuals. Not as many yummy flavors though. Sad

Oh....and ALDI!!!

I always buy tons of burger and then separate it at home, packaging and labeling them in aluminum foil. HIGH FIVE! lol

lol um...I usually clip coupons and buy whatever coupons I have.

I don't buy individual things like fruit cups/jello. I buy box jello and I only buy canned fruit. (Plus with WIC you can get canned fruit/veggies up to $6 a month).

I only grocery shop every two weeks.
